When a group of friends and gamers began developing video games in the summer of 2001, no one knew where this journey would lead.
Today, Z-Software GmbH is a video game studio based in the Dortmund region, where the company was founded in 2008. With over 20 video games released on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices, the studio has proven to be a long-term success.
With over 20 employees worldwide, we are a smaller studio, and players remain the focus of our work; we do our best to deliver games that entertain people and bring them joy.
Today, our studio is located near Dortmund, in the beautiful town of Lünen in North Rhine-Westphalia, in the heart of Germany, where we have just moved into our new offices at the Lünetec Technology Center. Z-Software is a member of the German industry association “game” and the Gametreff NRW initiative.
History
Started as a teenage hobby project 20 years ago Z-Software released its first commercial title in 2008, which happened together with their move-in into their first office. Since those days we released several games in different IPs.

History in Letters – The Eternal Alchemist
Nicolas Flamel gained posthumous fame as an alchemist. According to legend, he is said to have found the philosopher’s stone and attained immortality. Today, this is commonly dismissed as a fairy tale. The philologist Remy Chaveau thinks the same until he gets hold of a previously unknown diary. The book documents the search for Flamel’s mysteries in a very cryptic way and it looks like the diary’s author was close to solving them just before he died. Henceforth, Remy follows in the footsteps of the diary’s deceased writer and is drawn into a whirlwind of dark secrets and intrigues.

Solar Struggle
Solar Struggle is an arcade action spaceshooter where the player takes control of one of the nine space ships and experiences a thrilling story of a young pilot in 11 missions or asserts herself/himself against tons of enemies in the skirmish mode.
The whole game world is in 3D, but the action takes place on a 2D plane which makes the action and controls really easy.
Vision
In a sizeable team like Z-Software the motivation comes from various angles. Individually they range from solving technical issues to creating great worlds or cool gameplay, but the company unites behind one: Creating exceptionally entertaining games for players.
While already renowned for their dedicated and efficient team Z-Software is always looking for growth – both in reaching our player base but also in team structure. Independent but not “Indie”
While Z-Software often works with game publishers – for example for Autobahn Police Simulator 2 – we are also always open for business ventures with other publishers. This allows us the freedom of expression we need in realizing our games: If we work with somebody, we will pour our passion for games, our professionality in business and tech and our creativity into it.
Yet we sometimes want to go off-rails to stay in touch with modern business philosophy making us an even better and more understanding business partner when working with publishers at large.
