In our Autobahn Police Simulator 4 DEVLOG #10, today\u2019s post is all about traffic and traffic jams. But first, we\u2019d like to thank you for your patience\u2014after all, you had to wait a day longer than usual. Our web servers have now received the necessary updates and are back online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past few days, we\u2019ve received many questions from the community. Among them were several about traffic\u2014how much traffic there is and how road closures and traffic jams work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NPC vehicles are on the road everywhere, including, of course, the Autobahn. Each car is its own instance and drives itself. Traffic density depends on various factors, including the time of day, the type of road, and in-game events such as accidents and traffic lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So you might encounter more traffic than expected even at night on a remote country road, only to find the road empty the next morning. This feature contributes to the feeling of a living, breathing world and a more authentic driving experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it\u2019s impossible to give an exact answer to the question \u201chow much traffic\u201d there is on the Autobahn. However, a look at the two images below shows just how heavy the traffic can get\u2014and, above all, what happens when you close one or both lanes. Traffic jams form quite quickly, and traffic comes to a standstill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And in the second image, you can clearly see that as soon as the road is reopened, traffic starts moving again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does this happen on all roads? Of course. It makes no difference whether you close an intersection in a town or a traffic light on a country road. Here\u2019s a small example on a Autobahn exit that was closed off by a patrol car with its emergency lights flashing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And how far does a traffic jam like this stretch? That depends on the traffic. If there are a lot of vehicles on the road during the day, the traffic jam will be longer and, as in the case of this exit ramp, can sometimes back up all the way onto the Autobahn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It actually sounds pretty simple, but in reality, it\u2019s a very complex and difficult simulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And what if something goes wrong? Of course, things can go wrong\u2014cars have accidents, veer off the road, or exhibit \u201cunusual\u201d behavior. In such cases, the robust simulation for each vehicle ensures that traffic continues to flow smoothly, or else a traffic jam forms. In the last image of the day, you can see how a driver is involved in an accident caused by the road closure and how all other vehicles come to a safe stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you close both lanes to secure the accident scene, traffic comes to a complete standstill here. Remember this if there are problems on the Autobahn: use your emergency lights and variable message signs, and be careful\u2014cars on the Autobahn are moving pretty fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing is certain: driving the same road twice can feel completely different and offer a whole new experience. The world is alive!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABPS4 DEVLOG #10 \u2013 Verkehr und Staus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In unserem Autobahn Polizei Simulator 4 DEVLOG #10 dreht sich heute alles um Verkehr und Staus. Doch zuerst wollen wir uns f\u00fcr eure Geduld bedanken, denn ihr musstet ja einen Tag l\u00e4nger warten als normal. Unsere Webserver haben inzwischen die entsprechenden Updates erhalten und sind wieder online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In den letzten Tagen hatten wir viele Fragen aus der Community. Darunter auch einige \u00fcber den Verkehr, wieviel Verkehr es gibt und wie das mit Sperrungen und Staus funktioniert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auf allen Stra\u00dfen und damit nat\u00fcrlich auch auf der Autobahn sind NPC Fahrzeuge unterwegs. Jedes der Autos ist eine eigene Instanz und steuert sich selbst. Die Dichte des Verkehrs h\u00e4ngt von verschiedenen Faktoren ab. Darunter Tageszeit, die Art der Stra\u00dfe aber auch von Ereignissen in der Welt, wie Unf\u00e4lle und Ampeln.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und so kann man auch Nachts auf einer abgelegenen Landstra\u00dfe auf mehr Verkehr treffen, als man erwarten w\u00fcrde, um dann am n\u00e4chsten Morgen zu sehen: Die Stra\u00dfe ist leer. Diese Funktion tr\u00e4gt zum Gef\u00fchl einer lebendigen Welt und zu einem authentischeren Erlebnis im Verkehr bei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Man kann also die Frage \u201ewieviel Verkehr\u201c gibt es auf der Autobahn gar nicht genau beantworten. Ein Blick auf die beiden folgenden Bilder zeigt aber, wie massiv der Verkehr sein kann. Und vor allem was passiert, wenn man eine oder beide Spuren sperrt. Es bilden sich recht schnell Staus und der Verkehr kommt zum Erliegen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und im zweiten Bild kann man gut sehen, sobald du die Stra\u00dfe wieder frei gibts, beginnt der Verkehr wieder zu rollen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und das geht auch auf allen Stra\u00dfen? Na klar. Es macht keinen Unterschied ob du eine Kreuzung in einem Ort oder eine Ampel auf der Landstra\u00dfe sperrst. Hier ein kleines Beispiel auf einer Autobahn Abfahrt, die mittels Streifenwagen und Blaulicht gesperrt wurde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und wie weit zieht sich dann ein solcher Stau? Das h\u00e4ngt wieder rum vom Verkehr ab. Wenn tags\u00fcber viele Fahrzeuge unterwegs sind, wird der Stau l\u00e4nger sein und kann sich, wie hier im Falle der Abfahrt auch mal bis auf die Autobahn zur\u00fcck stauen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klingt eigentlich ganz einfach, ist aber in der Realit\u00e4t eine sehr komplexe und schwierige Simulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und wenn mal was schief geht? Nat\u00fcrlich kann mal was schief gehen, Autos haben Unf\u00e4lle, kommen von der Stra\u00dfe ab oder haben ein \u201ekomisches\u201c Verhalten. Dann sichert die robuste Simulation jedes Fahrzeuges das sinnvolle Weiterlaufen des Verkehrs oder es entsteht ein Stau. Auf dem letzten Bild des Tages sieht man, wie ein Verkehrsteilnehmer einen Unfall hat, der aus der Sperrung entstanden ist und wie alle anderen Fahrzeuge sicher zum Stehen kommen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sperrt man nun beide Spuren um die Unfallstelle zu sichern, dann kommt der Verkehr hier komplett zum Stehen. Denkt daran, wenn es Probleme auf der Autobahn gibt: Blaulicht, Matrix nutzen und vorsichtig sein, die Autos auf der Autobahn sind ganz sch\u00f6n schnell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eins ist auf jeden Fall sicher, zweimal die gleiche Stra\u00dfe kann sich ganz anders anf\u00fchlen, ein ganz anderes Erlebnis bieten. Die Welt ist lebendig!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
